I am, and have been, an active community member and a strong advocate of community development - working with passionate people to make a difference in our community.

When I moved here over 20 years ago, I got involved: Parent Advisory Committees, Arts Council, Chamber, Minor Hockey, etc. I saw first hand the incredible dedication and effort volunteers and community members put into building community and I wanted to be a part of it.

I first ran for office to help amplify the voices of the people who felt unheard and to use the tools of local government to help build communities that people could thrive in. I think that we are on the right path and I am still pushing forward, with your strength and your commitment.

As your representative, I will continue to stress a grass roots approach to solving problems and the need for community participation and involvement. I will work hard to advance your priorities and I will remain accessible and available to you.

I have experience working with people from all over BC, and in all levels of government, on issues that affect the Robson Valley region. Together we have moved forward on some very important initiatives:

Brought local representation to the SD 57 board,

Advocated and are on a path for local decision making around back country access and development,

Supported clean energy, affordable housing, children and seniors.

Created an Area H community foundations grant program.

Assisted in developing and maintaining outdoor recreation infrastructure.

Developed a Regional Agricultural Plan and strong support for agriculture and farmland

Developed a FireSmart program, provided rooftop sprinklers and a matching grant program to help homeowners FireSmart their properties.

Supported the creation and equipment of the Dunster Fire Brigade.

Developed a Parks plan to facilitate amenity upgrades for our local parks.

Created an emergency fund so that we can be more nimble during fast moving emergency events.

Supported people in the Robson/Canoe Valley through flood and fire.

Through sound policy around land use and an “open for business” attitude we are attracting new people with new ideas into our communities

I say we, because I have not done any of this on my own.

The administration and staff at the Regional District are smart and professional. We have worked hard to implement the policies that I and the rest of the board have advocated for on your behalf.

The manny community groups I have worked with are full of passion, enthusiasm and knowledge and it is a privilege to work with them towards our common goals.

Local government does not build community - people do!
